ECV Member Brendan Canty, formerly of Salem, MA now resides in Lexington, Kentucky and still wears the Blue & White (until it dawns on him that his ECV-discount doesn't work in Kentucky).
This time you can say that I will be reporting on my recent results in the blue and whit and red all over.
Short hilly circuit in a park on closed roads (3.1 miles, 45 minutes + 1 lap) was holding third and faded just at the line to finish fifth in a field of about 35-40.
Then I manged to become involved in a nasty crash (yes, after the line) involving ~8-10 riders. Quite honestly, I'm not really certain what happened. There was a close bunch of us all sprinting for third and I'm fairly certain that there was a little leaning between me and the guy on my right. All I really remember is the sensation of falling and then it went all Tom and Jerry cartoon fighting - bodies and bikes everywhere.
Talking to people after, I suspect that there was more then one rider initially going down and then it just became a mess.
Oh well - just a little rash on my elbow/arm/knee. Unfortunately, my (brand new - 10 days old) bike didn't fair as well. It seems as though it needs a new left shifter, front brake, and derailleur hanger. Bugger.
At least I scored some points ;)
Hope you guys are fairing well.
Brendan
