Ice Weasels Video
Ice Weasels was a blast Saturday. A truly excellent way to end the season. Check out this video I put together.
Topsfield Circuit Race (9/12/09)
A steady rain covered this nice little race in our backyard this past Saturday, making it a gritty effort for all participants. Mark Bissell & I the only reps from ECV for the Cat 4 race - 28 miles via 6 laps over a very nice rolling circuit - nice views & pavement, well-run by CCB, and it was really nice that the road was closed for us. About 25-30 starters I think braved the bad weather; Mark and I stayed on or near the front; I wound up on the front more than planned, chasing down some attacks throughout. The small field & closed ro
Lonely Spank'em tonight (9/3)
Sad sight at Bay Road Bikes tonight. Not only is the shop packing up, but not a soul showed up for Spank'em . . . after my usual red-lining-because-I'm-late ride over from Ipswich (tonight made worse as I was solo w/o Chandler), rounding the corner to the shop and seeing no one there was particularly deflating.
Forget the '9er craze . . . check this vid to see really LARGE wheels

Race Report: Wayne Elliot Memorial Circuit
Bizarre day of racing in Plaistow, NH, this past Saturday, 27 June, for the Wayne Elliott Memorial Circuit Race. Jack Hayden & I in the Masters 35+ and nice to see Mark Bissell in the Masters 45+.
Skip & Dan's B2B Adventure
Skip & I met up randomly at this year's Harpoon B2B ride this past Saturday, and Skip was a great riding partner. It was a first time for both of us, along with several 4C/ECV riders too - it was great to see so many friends out there; truly impressive for this tough event! (but also reflect our collective love of beer . . . )
The break in the weather was incredibly welcomed, and Harpoon did an amazing job with this event; never waited nor wanted for anything - perfect!
Fun on my 'crosser
Feeling a little burnt from the road & intensity of spring road racing season, I decided to change it up at lunch today. Living in Ipswich, it's easy access for me to Willowdale & Bradley Palmer, so I took my new 'crosser out for a very fun spin thru the fire roads of Willowdale, making my way over to the ecv 'cross practice course at Bradley-Palmer for a few loops.
Thoughts from Lake Sunapee RR 2009
Thoughts from Saturday's Lake Sunapee RR:
- My first Masters race - racing nirvana; finally, a benefit to being older. Farewell, annoying and dangerous 4 races . . . this was just too good.
- Hills - no particular killers, just enough in succession to slowly take it out of the legs . . . the final one to the finish doesn't look like much until you try it at the end of racing 46 over those other hills . . . my legs crumbled
- Shout-outs for ECV on the last turn into town from a flag-waving race-course volunteer; thanks Karin!!
